Types of Branch Fittings (Outlets)

18 Jan.,2024

Outlet pipe fittings are fittings which provide an outlet from a larger pipe to a smaller pipe. These fittings are also called as branch fittings, branch connection fittings or pipe branch fittings or O’lets.

What are the types of branch fittings or outlets?

Today, let us discuss the types of branch fittings and understand the respective features and uses.

The types of pipe branch fittings are weldable, sockolet, latrolet, thredolet, elbolet, sweepolet, insert weldolet, nipolet, brazolet, coupolet.

Before moving towards to all types of outlets, let us tell you that the most popularly used pipe fittings are weldolet and elbolet, sockolet and thredolet.

Also, weldoflange is a combination of a suspected weldoflange and welding neck flange, whereas the nipoflange is a mixture of a nipolet and welding neck flange.

Thredolet (threaded outlet)

The Thredolet run pipe is the same as the weldolet, except without welding, its branch link is threaded. The pressure is usually 3000# and 6000#, respectively.

Weldolet (welding outlet)

The weldolet or welding outlet is the most popularly used branch connection fitting. The architecture of the weldolet minimizes the concentration of tension and provides overall strengthening. It has a beveled end and is attached by butt welding to the branch shaft, so it is part of butt weld fittings. There are three STD, XS, and Sch160 pressure grades for the weldolet.

Sockolet (socket weld outlet)

The socket weld outlet is same as the weldolet. But the branch connection of Sockolet is socket-welded. Also, the pressure is usually 3000# and 6000#.

Nipolet (nipple outlet)

Nipolet is typically used for valve installation and exhaust. This is available in two types of thickness grades: XS and XXS. The length of Nipolet ranges from 3-1/2 inches to 6-1/2 inches.

Elbolet (elbow outlet)

Elbolet is used on long-radius elbows or short-radius elbows to provide branch connections. It can be butt welded, socket welded and threaded in conjunction with the branch shaft.

Sweepolet (swept outlet)

The shape of Sweepolet is wavy and overall reinforcement. It has a butt welding connection with branch pipe, typically used in low pressure pipelines.

Coupolet (coupling outlet)

These pipe fittings are intended to be used in sprinkler frameworks for flame/fire insurance as well as in other applications for low weight pressure piping.

Latrolet (lateral outlet)

This type of outlet is used for 45 degree branches. Latrolet’s connection with the branch pipe is butt welded, socket welded, and threaded.

Insert weldolet (insert welding outlet)

Another contoured butt-weld branch attachment used in less important applications is insert weldolet. To facilitate this technique, the ends are slanted, and in this way the weldolet is used as a butt-weld fitting.

Brazolet (brazo outlet)

Brazolet is usually used abroad as of late, and finds it use in interfacing or connecting the fortified fittings. It exists in traditional modes of association. Phenomenal Forgings make up the collection of brazolets.

These were all the types of branch fittings or outlets available in the market for various uses. Hope this blog helped you in understanding the types in a much better way.
