  • 2. Ash handling system overview  Bottom ash handling system.  Fly ash handling system (both wet & dry).  Slurry handling system from slurry pump house to ash dyke.  Ash water system.  Ash water recirculation system.
  • 3. Types of ash Generated  Fly ash ( approx 80%)  Bottom ash ( approx 20%) N.B:-- say 1 kg of coal contains 30 to 40 % of ash. Let in a day of 24 hrs 20 MT of coal burns then ash quantity = x30 %= MT. So Bottom ash =x20%= MT & Fly ash=x80%= MT
  • 5. System consists of ‘W’- type water impounded hopper with jet pumps for intermittent removal of bottom ash. (WW) Bottom ash system

  • 13. Fly ash handling system The fly ash handling system consists of two modes of operation, Viz 1.Wet mode operation and 2.Dry mode operation.
  • 14. Ash evacuation from ESP hoppers 1. Wet mode:--Ash evacuated from ESP hoppers through vacuum pumps & fed to wetting head (vacuum system) and collector tank units where ash is mixed with water & resultant slurry is discharged to slurry trenches. 2. Dry mode :-- Ash evacuated from ESP hoppers through vacuum pumps & collected in Buffer hoppers & Air lock tank, is transported to storage silo by compressed air (pressure conveying system) through pressure conveying pipe lines.

Ash Handling System

SVCE undertakes complete Design, Engineering, Supply, Erection, Testing and commissioning of Ash Handling Systems. The fuels used, either solids or liquids in the production of electrical power or industrial combustion processes, produces ash which is requires different type of handling. The Process that accumulates at the bottom of the boiler, known as Bottom Ash, is generally in the form of pieces & requires mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic conveying handling systems.

Fly Ash is dragged along by the gasses and deposited in the bottom of ash hoppers in the equipment downstream of the boiler, such as economizers, air pre heater, duct hoppers, electrostatic precipitators, stack hoppers and is normally removed in pneumatic conveying system or hydraulic systems or by conventional method using mechanical conveyors.

You will get efficient and thoughtful service from SGB.

Bottom Ash Systems:
  • ▪ Water impounded Bottom Ash hopper with hydro jet pump or ash slurry pumps to discharge bottom ash up to ash slurry sump/ash pond or to Hydro bin.
  • ▪ Dry type Bottom Ash hopper with submerged scraper conveyor for continuous discharge of ash in wet slurry form.
  • ▪ Hydro bin for bottom ash storage.
  • ▪ Submerged belt conveyor for continuous removal of moist bottom ash.
  • ▪ Dry Bottom ash conveying.
